Archive Notes
VHS release date: Tuesday March 14, 1989.
Movie-wave product distribution ranged from limited retail shipments to retailer samples, prototypes, and unreleased concepts. Collector debates about which items reached retail persist decades later.
Movie production timeline: initial story development summer 1987, formal production commitment fall 1987, script and storyboard work late 1987 through early 1988, full animation production throughout 1988, final post-production through January 1989, with VHS mastering, duplication, and distribution preparation during February.
The film's ending was the bridge to Fragments and to the decades of novel continuity that followed.
